This House Believes There’s No Such Thing As Authentic Irish Hip-Hop

*** Free-in all weekend ***

Having featured virtually every major name in the new Irish urban scene at their own showcase nights, taken their acts to festivals across the country and expanded into spoken word and poetry, Word Up has established itself as a driving force in one of the most exciting developments in domestic music in recent years. Now with acts from their roster such as Super Silly, Tebi Rex, Felispeaks, JyellowL and Sequence attracting acclaim both at home and abroad, they are ready to shine a light on the next generation of artists.

Taking place over one weekend at the Bernard Shaw, the Word Up Gala is a celebration of music, spoken word and thought. On the music front, Word Up’s JyellowL, Jake Hurley, Outsider YP, Jordan Adetunji and Sequence will be joined by the likes of King David, Reuben James, Chris Kabs, VJ Jackson, Why-Axis, Sick Nanley and a host of new names set to make in impact in 2018.

In addition, Sunday afternoon will see Felispeaks curate a selection of the most exciting and powerful spoken word performers on the circuit and Max Zanga of Tebi Rex will host a debate on the nature of Irish hip-hop.
